Prevent – Pneumonia

Ventilator-associated pneumonia (or VAP), an airways infection that can develop quickly, is the leading cause of death among hospital-acquired infections.

VAP prolongs the time a patient is dependent on a ventilator, the length of an ICU stay (almost always required for treating VAP), and the length of hospital stay after discharge from the ICU. Read more about VAP.
